FIX AUTO UK LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR ITS LEADING TECHNICIANS

Fix Auto UK is launching a nationwide search for three individuals with the skills to represent the country in the Fix Auto Masters Programme – the organisations’ global quest to find its leading M.E.T, panel and paint technicians.

The programme has been brought to the UK by Fix Network World and is supported by key partners AkzoNobel, 3M and Thatcham Research. This year’s inaugural competition involves a unique skills and knowledge contest designed to recognise the incredible technical talent from within Fix Auto’s worldwide network.

Applicants must work at a Fix Auto UK franchisee and hold a current level three or equivalent qualification in their chosen discipline. They will have to undergo a Q&A knowledge test for the first round, the highest scorers in this area will then be asked to attend the next stages Thatcham’s automotive academy where they will undertake a series of practical tests.

A winner and runner up for each discipline will be decided and they will be presented with their awards during Fix Auto UK’s National Conference, which is being held at the Silverstone Wing in October. The national winners will advance to the Fix Network World Masters at a venue yet to be revealed.

Fix Auto UK’s Ian Pugh said: “Our people are central to our success and I firmly believe we have some of the best skilled technicians in the world. The Fix Auto Masters Programme will provide us with the opportunity to show our colleagues from overseas who make up the global Fix Auto family just how skilled we are here in the UK.”

Dean Lander, Head of Repair Sector Services at Thatcham Research, said “It’s a great pleasure to support the Fix Auto Masters programme. We are delighted to be developing the tests and assessments to recognise the skills and dedication of bodyshop technicians. We are sure this programme will inspire the next generation starting out in the industry to see the enormous potential a career in the vehicle repair sector offers.”
