Mechanic – Fix Auto Lake Maquarie

The Mechanic is responsible for carrying out mechanical and maintenance work as well as strip and fit duties to restore vehicles to optimal condition in terms of safety, performance, structural integrity, and appearance. This role supports all aspects of body shop and service operations by performing skilled automotive repairs, diagnosing issues, and ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards.

 Job Duties

• Review damage reports, repair orders, and cost estimates to plan required work.
• Perform mechanical repairs and vehicle maintenance as assigned.
• Strip and fit body components including panels, frames, doors, underbody, and front-end components according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and determine if additional repairs or maintenance are required.
• Test repaired vehicles to ensure proper performance, handling, and safety.
• Collaborate with the paint department to ensure seamless repair flow.
• Install new or additional equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate work orders, reports, and documentation.
• Monitor parts and consumable usage and report material issues.
• Assist in ordering parts, supplies, and replacement equipment.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
• Perform other related tasks as required.

Requirements

• Minimum Cert III Automotive Mechanical certification required
• At least 3 years of experience as Automotive in automotive repair, with experience in both body and mechanical work preferred.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle repair processes and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to communicate technical information in a simple manner
• Ability to pay attention to detail
• Valid drivers license
• Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Working Conditions

• Job requires ability to work with a variety of power tools and equipment
• Ability to lift objects of up to 40 kgs is required
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. gloves, safety footwear, facemask, etc.)
• Regularly works in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
