FIX AUTO LEEDS’ NEW SITE ON COURSE FOR NOVEMBER OPENING

The development of Fix Auto UK’s first purpose-built repair centre is progressing at speed and is on course to be fully operational by November.

Sam Smith who, along with his father Stephen, is developing the multimillion-pound flagship 14,000 sq ft repair centre near to the heart of Leeds. When complete, the state-of-the-art facility will complement their existing repair centres; Fix Auto Keighley, Fix Auto Bradford and Fix Auto Leeds South.

Sam explained: “This has been a challenging year, that’s for sure, but we have been wholly committed to our new development. The builders have been tremendous. We are fortunate enough to have worked with the team on various projects before and there is a lot of trust between us. Despite all the adversity thrown at them, they have soldiered on.”

He added: “Thankfully, we are scheduled to provisionally move in during November but there are a couple of potential issues beyond our control, namely getting utilities like gas and electricity on site but we are working on that.”

Numerous franchisees within Fix Auto UK’s network have expanded their footprints and capacity to repair. With the majority of franchisees investing heavily by either redeveloping existing buildings or expanding their own sites, Fix Auto Leeds, as the site will be known, will be the network’s first repair centre designed for specific needs and be built entirely from scratch.

Sam added: “I know I speak for every business owner within the Fix Auto UK network when I say, for us, it is all about growth and delivering the ultimate customer service, be it for the motorist or our insurance partners. This development is in a perfect central location with superb road infrastructure and plenty of space, enabling us to build a repair centre to our own specifications with room to process up to 70 vehicles.

The site in Viaduct Road, Leeds, once housed the city’s gas holder built during the Victorian era but was demolished in 1932 and, until the Smiths moved in in February this year, had remained derelict. In taking over the site they faced a monumental challenge on clearing the ground and preparing the site, including its safety from harmful substances and shoring up the remnants of the old gas tower that was effectively a giant hole sunk 18 metres below the surface.
