Franchisees, employees and corporate offices from coast-to-coast donate over $20,000 to help victims of Alberta Fires

Calgary (Alberta) – June 7, 2016 – Peter Polito, General Manager of Fix Auto Western Canada, is proud to announce that one franchisee’s generosity and challenge has snowballed into over $20,000 in donations to the Red Cross’ Alberta Fires Appeal, helping to make a difference in the lives of Albertans who have spent the past several weeks away from their homes and wondering what they’ll come back to.

“We tip our hats to Fix Auto Okotoks’ owner Morley Barnaby, whose initial donation and challenge to the Fix Auto network snowballed into a wave of support from across Canada,” said Polito.  “It warms our hearts to see the support pouring in from Quebec, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces to help the Red Cross make a difference in Alberta.”

Fix Auto Okotoks issued the challenge to the Fix Auto network in May, when over 80,000 Fort McMurray residents were displaced; within days, Fix Auto owners from all regions of Canada had contributed over $15,000, with another $5,000 coming in from individual donations from Fix Auto corporate staff and contributions from Fix Auto’s 4 regional offices.

“I would like to recognize Jeff Leeper, Dan Doeber and Ken Bast of Fix Auto Waterloo and Parkway Ford Lincoln, for being the first in Ontario to answer the challenge,” said Daryll O’Keefe, General Manager of Fix Auto Ontario.  “Their generous contribution makes a big difference to our collective efforts, and helped build momentum across the network to help the victims of the Alberta Fires drive forward with their normal lives.”

In total, dozens of Fix Auto franchisees and employees contributed over $20,000 to support the Red Cross in their efforts to help Alberta residents displaced by the fires.  Special mentions go out to the following Fix Auto franchisees who went out of their way to support the program:  Morley Barnaby (Fix Auto Okotoks, AB); Tim Gares, Larry Miller and the Miller Group (Fix Auto Vernon Central and Fix Auto Vernon South, BC); Glenn Smaha (Fix Auto Airdrie, AB); Jerry Grudzien (Fix Auto Edmonton East, AB); Derek Tolsma and Leon Fieret (Fix Auto Fort MacLead, AB); Chris Keikoop and Leon Feiret (Fix Auto Pincher Creek, AB); Corey and Karen Desrosiers and the staff of Fix Auto Red Deer South; Jeff Leeper, Dan Doeber and Ken Bast of Parkway Ford Lincoln (and Fix Auto Waterloo, ON); Kristina Weik (Fix Auto Kitchener, ON); Liz Morano (Fix Auto Lakeshore, ON); Lyssa Dion-Dicaire (Fix Auto Blainville, QC); Patricia Tardiff (Fix Auto Cap-de-la-Madeleine, QC); Jocelyn Lemaire (Fix Auto Drummondville, QC); Monica Carré (Fix Auto Gatineau Est, QC); Caroline Turgeon (Fix Auto St-Michel, QC); plus many corporate staff members and all four regional Head Offices (Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada).

“This is the power of our network,” added Carl Brabander, VP Marketing.  “Fix Auto is a coast-to-coast network of family businesses that can really pull together for a good cause, and inspire us all to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives.”
