TALENTED FIX AUTO PAINTER HAS EARNED A SPOT ON TEAM CANADA

Maggie Friesen earns her place on Team Canada and is bound for WorldSkills 2019 in Kazan, Russia.

MILTON (Ontario), June 20, 2019 – “We are so proud to announce that Maggie Friesen, a member of the Fix Auto London North West team, will be representing Canada at WorldSkills 2019 in Russia later this summer,” said Daryll O’Keefe, Regional Vice President Fix Network Ontario & Manitoba. The 45th WorldSkills Competition, taking place August 22nd – 27th, will bring together competitors in various skills and trades. Friesen will showcase her elite car painting skills at the competition hoping to bring home gold for her team.

Friesen has won numerous competitions that led her to earning a spot on Team Canada. Previously, she took home gold at the Ontario Skills Competition which earned her an invitation to compete at the national competition held last summer in Edmonton. There Friesen won the bronze medal in car painting and the chance to compete for a spot on Canada’s national team. With her exceptional skill, keen eye for detail and passion for her trade, Friesen won the competition and is now a member of Team Canada heading to WorldSkills 2019.

“I am so excited to represent Canada at WorldSkills 2019,” said Friesen. “This is a great opportunity for me and a chance to represent Canada and women in the automotive industry on a global scale.”

Every two years WorldSkills hosts the world championships which attracts more than 1,300 competitors from more than 60 countries. At this event, young people from all corners of the globe gather together for the chance to win a prestigious medal in their chosen skill. There are competitions in over 50 skills across a wide range of industries. The competitors represent the best of their peers and are selected from competitions that are held in WorldSkills member countries and regions.

O’Keefe concludes, “We are thrilled for Maggie and all her accomplishments and will be sponsoring her journey to WorldSkills 2019 in Russia. Having such a talented young painter represent Fix Auto and her team at the London North West shop on the world stage is fantastic. Everyone across our network is wishing Maggie the best of luck while she competes against top car painters from around the world.”
