FIX NETWORK CANADA TEAM RAISES OVER $140,000 FOR RMHC IN 2019

The Fix Network Canada team almost doubles the amount raised in the previous year for Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) Canada.

BLAINVILLE (Quebec), February 10, 2020 – Steve Leal, President and CEO of Fix Network World is very proud to share that the Fix Network Canada family of franchise strategic partners and corporate team members, along with select supplier and insurance partners, have come together to raise $143,828 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada in 2019.

“I am completely overwhelmed by the generosity and efforts of our team in 2019 to almost double the amount raised from the previous year,” said Leal. “Our Fix Auto, Speedy Auto Service and NOVUS Glass franchise families have really stepped up to help RMHC families across the country. Working together as one team, we’ve been able to make a positive impact for the families staying at the RMHC houses.”

Multiple events, both big and small, were held throughout the year to help achieve this fantastic fundraising total. In October Stéphane Cirurso, owner of Fix Auto Vaudreuil and Fix Auto Montreal West, held a casino event that raised over $17,000 in one night. One of Fix Auto’s first franchise owners George and Fatima Salsa and his team raised $40,000 at their 6th annual Matthew Salsa Memorial Golf Tournament and Fix Auto Windsor & Windsor East raised $9,000 at an annual fundraising banquet. There were also individual shop owners that graciously donated funds to RMHC including Ricky Ahmed from Fix Auto Brooks, Jeff Leeper from Fix Auto Waterloo and Bijou Abraham from Speedy Auto Service Millwoods and Northwest in Edmonton.

These donations are in addition to volunteering at events such as Footsteps for Families in Ontario, The PJ Walk for Kids in the Maritimes and the Home for Dinner initiative which many of the shops and their staff participate in throughout the year. Shops from coast to coast have donated money, time and household items to help thousands of families stay close to their sick child and the care they need. In 2018, over 26,000 families from 2,944 communities across Canada stayed with RMHC. However, the need continues to grow, as 7,242 families were turned away due to lack of bedspace; that’s 19 families per night.

“Our goal is to ensure that families with sick children across Canada can stay close to each other and close to the care they need, so we’re grateful to the Fix Network Canada community for this much-valued and meaningful support,” said Kate Horton, Executive Director, RMHC Canada.

This partnership establishes RMHC Canada as the charity of choice for the Fix Network and encourages franchise strategic partners, their employees and corporate staff to get involved supporting this worthwhile cause through fundraising, volunteering and awareness building. Many Fix Auto, Speedy Auto Service and NOVUS Glass locations are in communities without a children’s hospital which makes this partnership all the more important as 65% of Canadians live outside a city with a children’s hospital.

The Fix Network is itself a family and understands the positive impact having family close by when a child is undergoing treatment. “It’s wonderful to see our teams get out there, raise money and volunteer their time for such a great organization,” added Leal. “RMHC has been our national charity partner since June 2016 and the amount we raise and hours we volunteer increases each year; a trend that I am so proud to see.”
